Privacy

This Privacy Policy explains what ScreenMark does — and does not do — with your screenshots and account information. It covers the web app at screen-mark.com and Screen Mark Desktop (the Windows capture app).

Who this is from

ScreenMark is built by Patten Labs in Ontario, Canada. This policy describes how the product actually handles your data.

No AI, OCR, or transcription

ScreenMark does not extract text from screenshots, does not run OCR, and does not send images to language models or third-party transcription. Blur and redact are manual tools you draw.

Clinical screenshots

We do not claim HIPAA or PHIPA compliance, do not offer a BAA, and do not treat ScreenMark as a clinical or EHR system. Keeping desktop markup off cloud history reduces how screenshot pixels are stored on our servers; it is not a certification.

Screenshots can contain patient information. Prefer Screen Mark Desktop when you want capture-to-editor on this PC without saving to cloud history. If you use the website in a normal browser, do not save history on a screenshot that may contain patient info unless it is already redacted on-device and your organization has approved that use.

Blur is not a guarantee that covered pixels are unrecoverable.

Screen Mark Desktop (Windows)

Hotkey capture is built for speed on this PC: the screenshot is copied to the clipboard, the in-app editor opens, and the image is pasted so you can mark it up immediately.

Desktop edits stay on this PC. Export & Copy in the desktop editor copies the finished image locally. It does not write ScreenMark cloud history. That is a privacy control, so screenshots you annotate in the Windows app are not saved to your account on the website.

The shell does not write screenshot files. Settings and a small support log stay on the PC. The log never includes image bytes, clipboard contents, window titles, or URLs with query strings. Update checks download a public feed from GitHub and send nothing about captures.

Website editor and history save

History is written when you Export & Copy in a normal browser — that is the only history-upload path in this build. It does not run when the editor is inside Screen Mark Desktop, so desktop markup is not synced to the website.

Flatten / burn-in applies to the primary screenshot only. If that primary image has no blur/redact regions, the original source is uploaded. If those regions exist, patches are burned into that primary screenshot before upload.

Other images on the canvas, and the history thumbnail, may still upload — including unredacted pixels. The thumbnail is a separate file upload, not the flattened private source.

History items are kept about 12 hours after creation by default. Pro accounts can extend that up to 7 days. You can delete items yourself in the editor history panel.

Delete does not mean every related file, backup, or subprocessor residual is gone. Removing a history item (or waiting for auto-delete) removes the record we show you. It is not a wipe of every copy.

What else we process

You sign in with email, Google, Apple, or Microsoft. The app is hosted on Base44. Subscriptions go through Stripe (we do not store full card numbers). The Contact form stores the email and message you send. We record basic page visits (path, title, referrer). Remember-this-blur profiles, if you save one, stay as JSON in this browser (region geometry and labels you type — not screenshot pixels).

Patten Labs is in Ontario. This codebase does not list where those processors keep data. We do not claim that processing stays in Canada.

Access, correction, deletion

To access, correct, or delete your account, email info@screen-mark.com. You can delete history items in the editor. You can also use the Contact form.
